The Quite Incredible Number List: 6601-6700

6601: The B6601 is one of Britain's newest B-roads, having been given that number in 2020. Before that, it was - unbelievably - a motorway, connecting junction 35 of the M6 with the quarries at Over Kellet in Lancashire. It was (and still is) entirely single carriageway and less than half a mile long, but it was given motorway status because at its northern end you had no choice but to join another motorway. This problem was resolved by downgrading the circulatory carriageway of the roundabout, allowing non-motorway traffic to turn round and come back. (Brock)
